Community gardens are plots of land, usually in urban areas that
provide an opportunity for residents to grow their own vegetables & herbs, close to home, as well as provide a space for neighborhood-level social opportunities. The garden will consist of several separate single or double plots for people to grow their own vegetables, including ADA raised garden beds that will be accessible to residents with walkers or wheelchairs.
The Cultivating Community Gardens Program, in the Oakbrook Neighborhood, is an effort to give the community the opportunity to grow their own food, improving food security for individuals and families in need. 18th W is pleased to be able to provide the community with the opportunity for positive social interaction and recreation in a beautiful, non-threatening atmosphere. Individuals of all ages and backgrounds may interact in a healthy pursuit of gardening.
